It is 1988 in Hackney, east London – a place dubbed the most awful place in Britain.
With the highest crime rates in Europe and a falling conviction rate, a secret group of officers are taking the law into their own hands. Detective Inspector Cat Skeldon is on to them and her small team is determined to put them behind bars.
This could be a major problem for PC Arran Cunningham because he’s in both camps. And when the shadowy cabal execute a young man for a crime he didn’t commit, Cunningham hunts down the guilty man who has escaped justice.
What he discovers will change all of their lives forever.

The story is based around real events that actually took place in Hackney in 1988. The author provides an extra level of authenticity and depth to the story since he has worked for the Metropolitan Police Department.
There are also two small parts of the novel set in two foreign destinations : Salzburg, Austria – Where ill-gotten gains go to hide and Pentati, Corfu – which is a hiding place with a difference.
