2000s: Angela’s planning her very own fairytale of New York…
Angela, the main character of the I heart.. novels is now happily married to Alex. However Alex is starting to drop some hints about wanting to take their relationship to the next level and to start a family. Is Angela ready? She is stressed at work, has unexpected guests turn up on her doorstep just before the holidays and there are even more curve balls coming her way…but…
Angela is struggling, having to grow up and deal with grown up issues with all the wit and charm of Angela herself – that quirky, child in an adult body syndrome that most of us can relate to at some point -especially when the added stress and excitement of Christmas comes along.
Angela’s plans for the perfect Christmas in New York involve educating all her American friends on the traditional British Christmas but it’s the Christmas in New York that has the best ingredients.
Just what is the famous New York Christmas that Angela really searches for and is keen to enjoy? There are a few special places in the city that you absolutely have to go to in order to see the New York that Angela sees.
You have to go Ice skating here. The lake in the centre of the park is the only place to skate at Christmas and it’s also the setting of so many movies that you’ll feel as if you’re in one as well as feeling that you’re right at the heart of the book.
The huge Christmas trees are so magical in New York and Angela gets a taste of what it’s all about. It’s all so magical and sparkling.Perhaps the most famous Giant Tree is just outside the Rockerfeller Center which also has a skating rink.
All the famous stores in New York have magical themed Christmas displays – Macy’s, Barney’s and Bloomingdale’s are among the most famous. Angela goes to Bergdorf Goodman in the novel.
