The small and very claustrophobic town of Esseberg is fictional but close to fictional Gavrik where the other Tuva novels are set.
Esseberg is also known as Ice Town, and is a small isolated community far from Tuva’s home in Gavrik, Sweden.
The journey from one place to another is claustrophobic, cold with dangerous roads. It’s only accessed via a tunnel, which is closed for hours each day. Once in the town, and the tunnel is closed, there’s no getting out.
