2000s: Moving all the way across the world to save your marriage….
Katie and Tom’s marriage is in trouble. So when he says he needs to talk, Katie is not too surprised. What she is shocked about however is when he tells her he’s moving to Australia with work. For good. She had thought he might have found out about something she really should not have done, or the fact that the debt they’re in is even worse than she first thought.
So, Australia? She has to go if they’re to save their marriage. Never mind she’s not that keen on heat or spiders. So they both head out there to see if the heat of Australia can put some heat back into their relationship;
Or if being on the other side of the world will push one of them over the edge.
Australia may just be the country they need to go to in order to save heir marriage and to spend time in a new and distant land. they are getting rather distant with each other so a distant land is quite apt. But Australia is a shock as much as it is a last resort for their marriage:
The difference here between the UK and their new home in Sydney is the heat, the spiders and the snakes. Tom is not even home much so the social life is all down to her. Making friends, being pregnant and trying to float above the drowning whirlpool she finds herself in.
Life adjusting to the new Aussie lifestyle is not easy. She sees it through the eyes of a newcomer though which is interesting. The upheaval to get here has led to even more upheaval in her life now.
