A summer holiday to the Seychelles can suddenly take a nasty turn
Lucy is in her twenties and holidaying with her parents in the Seychelles following a rather traumatic break up with her fiancé. Dad George knows the island paradise well having lived and worked there back in the 1970s. However he was forced to leave in 1977 due to a political upheaval and he’s never been bak since until now.
The holiday seems to be going well but there is not just warm winds blowing in the breeze, but intrigue and mystery. When Lucy’s mum goes missing, events take a very dark turn indeed.
Ah the Seychelles and the island of Mahé. Even George on his first arrival to work at the Garden of Eden hotel, is amazed at the paradise location:
“The sunsets were spectacular, It was hard to believe anything malevolent could flourish under the tropical sunshine”
But flourish under the tropical sunshine it does despite the hot sun, the bougainvillea still blossoming and the resplendent colours of the world around him.
Journey of Death starts in the 1970s at the time of the political coup. The events which follow are graphically describe and immerse you deep inside the action. They provide the background on which the narrative is based which makes for interesting reading. Macham is ousted from his base in Victoria when he’s away…
