It’s hard when a baby sister comes along and takes all the attention of You! Well that’s what Katie Morag feels. There is suddenly a whole little new person who is the centre of attention and no one wants to play with her anymore it seems! She gets so cross she even kicks her trusted teddy bear who only has one eye, right into the sea!
But almost as soon as she’d done it, she regrets it and tries to get him back. But the sea around the Isle of Struay where her granny lives is wavy and carries things away!
Surely he is lost for ever . . .
The Island of Struay is said to be inspired by the landscape, culture and way of life by real life Arinagour on the Scottish island of Coll in the Inner Hebrides. This is the island where Mairi Hedderwick lived for a number of years and so was inspired by in many many ways.
Later on there was a television adaptation of the books and filming took place on the Isle of Lewis. The remote village of Tolsta Chaolais was one of the places featured.
