Why a Booktrail?
2000s: An inside look at domestic violence
2000s: An inside look at domestic violence
When Katie Straw’s body is pulled from the waters of the local suicide spot, the police decide it’s an open-and-shut case. A standard-issue female suicide.
But the residents of Widringham women’s refuge where Katie worked don’t agree. They say it’s murder.
Will you listen to them?
Given the subject matter, this is not a book for a booktrail but one which highlights the complexities and shadows of domestic violence.
Set in a fictional town for obvious reasons, there are descriptions of life in a refuge life, court processes. The level of violence and the easy way in which any one of us could fall into this trap is shocking as it’s so realistic.
