2000s: Prequel to The Good Daughter
At the age of thirteen, Charlie Quinn’s childhood came to an abrupt and devastating end. Two men, with a grudge against her lawyer father, broke into her home – and after that shocking night, Charlie’s world was never the same.
Now a lawyer herself, Charlie has made it her mission to defend those with no one else to turn to. So when Flora Faulkner, a motherless teen, begs for help, Charlie is reminded of her own past, and is powerless to say no.
But honour-student Flora is in far deeper trouble than Charlie could ever have anticipated. Soon she must ask herself: how far should she go to protect her client? And can she truly believe everything she is being told?
Fictional in Northern Georgia but some two hours north of Atlanta. The one on the map is firmly in Kentucky! Good for a visit and you could maybe bump into Charlie Quinn and co here.
Set thirteen years before The Good Daughter, this gives some insight into the main character, Charlie Quinn.
Charlie is at the beginning of her career as a defense lawyer where she meets a young girl who needs her help regarding her mother. It resonates with her since it reminds her of her own loss.
Set in the bad parts of town, where drugs and money rule the streets and you have to fight to stay alive. This is how a small town is shaken by violence and Charlie is at the centre of it.
