Why a Booktrail?

2000s: It all starts with a lie…

What you need to know before your trail

Ah yes the lie – the little white one or the big humdinger of a lie, they all cause their own kinds of problems. As lies often snowball and so that one moment when you try to impress someone, a lawyer, when you don’t feel comfortable in your life when thinking of theirs, then the lies come. Harmless though aren’t they?

But the next thing you know, you’re having dinner at their house, and accepting an invitation to join them on holiday – swept up in their perfect life, the kind you always dreamed of…

But there’s a fine line between dreams and nightmares…

Travel Guide

Pyros ( Poros Island)

This is the (fictional) town that links the whole story together. A town where a young girl goes missing and one where Alice has a lease on a house. Alice and Paul are brought together and it’s here she visits with friends for a holiday.

The mystery of the missing girl has lingered for too long and this year her parents return hoping to find her at last. This is a town where the police, the locals and the returning visitors there at the time all seem to be in the dark. But are they?

London

Paul sits and writes in the London library. He thinks of himself as part of ‘Literary London’ and loves it when others think the same. But if you ever see someone like Paul in  a library you should leave. Ask him nothing as you’ll only get back lies in return.

Booktrailer Review

Clare: @thebooktrailer

Is it possible to really hate a literary character and slap the book shut hoping that this is the equivalent of giving him a slap for real? Well this would be Paul in Lie With Me. What an odious little man. Can’t say I felt much for the others either but this psychological thriller was unusual as it was seen through the eyes of a man rather than a woman.

This wasn’t the book I thought I was reading at the start. How wrong can you be? It turned into something altogether more gripping and interesting. The ending was a shock and it reminded me of the tension as in The Talented Mr Ripley. I can’t say more as you really have to discover this for yourself.

It did make me think of the lies we all tell on a daily basis and eeven the little white ones we tell to protect our pride or that of someone else. The sense of impending doom rings in your ears as you near the end. You think you know but just you wait!
