What you need to know before your trail
Lily is a British actress, but a not very successful one as despite appearing in a few adverts, she has to take a ‘ proper job’ to put food on the table. So when she is sacked from a job, she decides that a move to LA may be exactly what she needs. Her cousin Alice is getting married there so what better time to go?
And since Alice is getting married to a Hollywood Agent, could this be the start of amazing things? Only trouble is she’s been told not to mention acting or anything related to it whilst there – she’s there for a wedding.
But Lily has never really liked ‘ rules’……

Two landscapes here in reality – the dull cold lonely existence of her life in the UK “the rainy streets of Slough” contrast nicely with the sunny, beachy feel of LA. And like Lily, you’ll be dying to get there. At home in Bromley she wonders what would have happened if she’s moved to La when she was fifteen. Well she is soon to find out.And as she steps off the plane at LAX and sees the paps…well they couldn’t be there for her could they? haha no – but that’s only the first sign of her vivid imagination that will show you LA through Lily’s eyes..
Off to Venice, “the nicest part of LA by miles” with ordinary houses smart but not “looking like the set of the OC”. Not Beverly Hills but something all together more interesting. Where there is a wedding to plan…
The sea – or the ocean as Alice calls it is five minutes away from where Lily is staying and only a short walk from Santa Monica and Venice Beach – “a tacky fabulous boardwalk”.
LA lingo and culture are mixed with humour and acute observation – Lily makes for a great companion to see La with. People don’t drive convertibles because of the smog, Muscle men line the beaches and a drive along the Abbot Kinney boulevard is visiting Alice’s Mecca..
Just don’t go visiting ‘the farmacy’ anytime soon. Wedding planning is very hard work it would seem and with all the distractions of LA, anything could happen (and it does!)
