Now they love conquers all, but this is a journey of a girl who although blinded by love does still see the dangers of a very long sailboat trip across the Pacific and still does it anyway.

Before the trip: Los Angeles and Mexico

Torre is a great passenger and guide to what is a remarkable adventure. She’s nervous but gutsy, scared but spontaneous which is a great mix for any explorer. She’s also very human – accidentally shooting someone with a spear gun will do that to a girl. From the boat in Los Angeles to the first albeit short leg of the journey down to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, her humour and personality shine through as even before leaving the dock, she says:

“… if someone were to ask me which direction the wind was coming from, I would lick my finger, point it into the air, and then declare I have no idea whatsoever.”

The Pacific Ocean – French Polynesia – Marquesas Islands

The journey is one of the most amazing a book will ever take you on. And this girl did it for real! Wow. From  French Polynesia’s Marquesas Islands  and the second bigggest one of Hiva Oa. This is one magical mystery tour through these islands, They then go to Tahuata, and Nuku Hiva.

Tuamotus

Then it’s off to Tuamotus – the second group of islands visited – Toau, Apataki, and Rangiroa. Little more than a speck on the ocean but the scenery here is stunning! Then it’s Tahiti – the largest island in French Polynesia, Moorea and Rangiroa

The Cook Islands

Getting near to the destination of Australia now with Aitutaki in the Cook Islands but still in the Pacific with Tonga,Vanuatu – Port Villa.

Imagine both the relief and disappointment in reaching the end of this journey. Relief that you’ve done it and are still alive, but disappointment that such a wonderful experience is all over.  Bundaberg in Queensland the final stop of one heck of a journey.
