What you need to know before your trail

Sue Bowl wants to be a writer. She lives with her aunt Coral in a large old house, the ancestral home, but Coral buys more than she can afford and so they need lodgers to come to their aid

Sue feels the house will give her the inspiration she needs for her writing but in the mean time her life is full of her diary where she pours her heart and soul into that book. She chronicles her life there, the everyday goings on of the lodgers who come and go and a certain literary professor….

Meanwhile, Sue is reading a book  ‘For the concern of the rich and the poor’ where she soon starts to discover the story of the history of the house itself.

Travel Guide

Egham

Clockhouse Lane in Egham Surrey might not sound like the most obvious of literary settings but for the base for one aspiring writer and for meeting of minds with a literary professor it’s quite the place!

After having completed a writing course in Crete, Sue moves in with Aunt Coral and accounts the house, life in the house and the every day comings and goings of its lodgers.

There are many fictional places mentioned such as Quaker’s Acre which is where the newspaper offices are. Egham however is a place for many quirky goings on in this book! However there are quite a few literary places which we would recommend Sue visit if she hasn’t already – namely the Literary Institute and museum It also has a history where not just Sue’s writing but some very famous writing and signing took place – for it’s only a step away from where the Magna Carta was sealed.
