From Paris to Lanzarote
Paris
This is the place of hopes but also of broken dreams. Eric works in the Montparnasse area of the city. This is the area of Paris where the artists live and die. Be sure to visit the cemetery to see who is buried and celebrated here. The other iconic place in the novel is the cafe Le Dome Cafe which is a feature of the book and is mentioned often.
Lanzarote, Spain
Compared to Paris, this is a hot and stuffy place. The volcanoes in the title of the book are the ones mentioned here – they are very symbolic to the story and of Eric’s reawakening.
