2000s: You”ll be dying for a mince pie and a Christmas market after this!
Ruby has had enough of university and so is heading home for the holidays to save up for her trip around the world in January.
Her father is not too happy about it, nor is he happy about her plans to take on a stall at the local market. It’s going to be themed and have bunting and mistletoe and maybe even a bit of mulled wine.
But the Christmas spirit starts to flag a bit when the new retail park which has just opened up nearby gets everyone talking. Will this threaten the market and what will happen to Ruby and the others now? Ruby devises a plan to make sure that Wynbridge is the first port of call for everyone’s Christmas shopping needs
There are many markets up and down the UK and since Wynbridge is not real sadly, the joy of trailing this book is looking for lovely markets where Ruby and the others might work. We’ve picked one in Scotland, one in Yorkshire and one in London for the map but there are so many out there that the trick is to find the one nearest to you, then grab a glass of mulled wine and find yourself a lovely little warm nook with which to snuggle into with this book.
The sense of Christmas fills the pages with aromas of mulled wine, spiced biscuits and the sheer joy of Ruby and the others doing creative things which they love. When that gets threatened the sense of community spirit and working together really puts a warm smile on your face.

Ah what a lovely festive read! I really had hoped Wynbridge was real as I was all ready to get on the bus and head there for a piece of the Christmas action. However this novel did make me buy mince pies and Ikea Glugg (Not keen on the mulled wine but wanted a Christmas drink)
I loved getting into the spirit of Christmas with the vivid descriptions of the market crafts and the cakes Jemma made, I was licking my lips. IT never got too sweet though as there was a serious story behind it too – the problem of modern day getting in the way of traditions with the retail park next door putting the market at risk.
The sense of community and their fight for a common cause is very nicely done and a hint of romance never hurts! A good feel novel to kick off your Christmas shopping if you’ve not done it already – and to visit a Christmas market if you have!
