Not a book for location as the main one is inside a unnamed hospital and inside the mother’s head. Having said that,the novel is set in Australia by the mention of Kangaroos which jump out in front of cars apparently and vegemite spread.
The author herself is from the Macedon Ranges with her family where she works as a GP.
