What you need to know before your trail

Francine Day is a high flying lawyer about to apply for silk, ambitious and brilliant. She just needs one headline grabbing client to seal her place as queen’s counsel … Martin Joy. The attraction is instant. Obsessive.

They embark on a secret affair and Francine thinks she can hold it together. But then Martin’s wife goes missing. And Martin is the prime suspect. Francine is now his lawyer, lover and the last person to see Donna Joy alive.

As the case unravels so does Francine.

Travel Guide

Lawyers London

This is the centre of Lawyer london with the offices of solicitors and barristers working hard on cases such as divorce and murder. The atmosphere here is hard work or you’re out. Long hours, no time to live your life outside of the chambers. The working day is a time to rush from one building to another, on a case, trial or preparing for a new client.

Burgess Court is the lawyers office in the book where all of the action so to speak takes place. There are hurried meetings in Temple Lane,  a walk along Fleet Street to calm the nerves but it always comes back to what goes on in those offices in Middle Temple and the court. Lawyers and officials in wigs walk hurriedly from one spot to another when they’re not in the Pen and Wig pub for lunch and discussions into the case. There doesn’t seem to be a Pen and Wig pub but there is Thai restaurant of that name. The temple Bar is also a popular haunt for people working in the area.

Do what Francine does in the novel (no not that!) and take the 19 bus for a tour of London. Childhood memories and  a way of seeing the sights in the area.
