Why a Booktrail?
2000s: The third in the series for the Malmö based Inspector Anita Sundström
2000s: The third in the series for the Malmö based Inspector Anita Sundström
Anita Sundström has been faced with two cases, she really doesn’t want to get involved with. One is the matter of a British heir hunter from Cumbria who has disappeared following a trip to Malmö and the other, her ex-husband’s request to help him find his girlfriend who has somehow disappeared.
She is then sent to England in order to chase up leads and investigate further due to her ability in English. Two bodies are then found washed up on the shore at Oresund and the mysteries soon take a sinister turn. Sundström finds herself inextricably involved in both cases and there are ties to a case which happened 20 years ago.
British heir-hunter Graeme Todd has been on quite a trail. He was working on tracking down those who may be in line for a payout or similar following the death of an elderly woman from Cumbria. The investigations are harder and more far reaching than he had imagined for he then travels to Malmö. Having said that he does try and make the best of it and like the best booktrailer, goes on the famous Wallander tour in Ystad –
Soon afterwards however he goes missing and Anita steps in. The Malmö mysteries certainly keep Anita busy and when two bodies show up in the cold waters of Oresund, the atmosphere changes and death overshadows what had been a difficult investigation. A visitor to the country found murdered? A young girl found dead? The sinister side to Anita’s investigation suddenly becomes a lot more personal.
A Swedish inspector in Cumbria! Not a common occurrence but a nice change. Anita soon finds herself embroiled in the investigation of what happened to Graeme Todd and soon start to make friends in the Cumbrian force. There’s a lot riding on her working over here and she‘s under pressure to find answers.
Anita feels a bit lost and alone in the Cumbrian countryside – it’s remote and rural but it’s here that she has to dig deep for answers. The investigations take her all the way up to the North East and the Tyne docks are an interesting contrast to the Malmö setting.
And the gritty docks of the River Tyne are dark and grim. Something is about to happen –
Back in Malmö, the investigation into the other murder is underway and as Anita returns, ready to review the case, she is not sure that her colleague Westermark has the right suspect
Two separate strands and two very different settings and crimes but the links between Malmö and North Shields are closer than you think and this makes for an interesting twist on Swedish-British crime fiction.
