What you need to know before your trail

Bryanna Plog , an English teacher, travelled to Colombia to see the country and the people and to fully immerse herself in the culture. She decided to write a honest account of what she found and how she saw the country and what the people made of her. She managed to make her way via cities, deserts and even rain forests but the classes she had to teach were another matter. As for the food, well she has something to say about that as well.

Bryanna does take to places you may not have seen in this way before.

Travel Guide

Locations –  Santa Ana, Bogota, Riohacha, Cartagena, Medellin, the Andes mountains, Sierra Nevada Mountains, The Amazon jungle, Leticia and the deserts of the Guajira peninsula

Bryanna had a mission to go to Colombia and to experience everything it had to offer. Now you may not regard Colombia as a travel or tourist destination at first  but to travel here with someone who had the opportunity and the desire to do it opens your eyes. And we were proven wrong since many of the people in this book worked or depended in the tourist industry

This is not a travel journal about the place she sees and the food she eats although that is included. It’s rather a picture of rural Colombia and the communities who live there. Once in these communities, Bryanna explains things such that the normal traveller might not consider – ie how to get children to learn in class and how the plumbing may not be the best she’s even seen.

She teaches in a school in Santa Ana, A small coastal village and meets some very warm and welcoming people there. Of course the education system and standards she is used to may not be the same but the students stood out for being keen and she, a novelty in these parts, seemed to be appreciated.

This is a personal and friendly account of a teacher who had her eyes opened and who learnt just as much as she taught her pupils.
