What you need to know before your trail

Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong are spending the Christmas holidays in  Cambridge. It looks so Christmassy with its tall spires, its lovely libraries and the snow on the ground. What they don’t to find is danger lurking in the dark stairwells of ancient Maudlin College.

Three nights before Christmas, there is a terrible accident. At least, it appears to be an accident – until the Detective Society look a little closer, and realise a murder has taken place. Faced with several irritating grown-ups and fierce competition from a rival agency, they must use all their cunning and courage to find the killer (in time for Christmas Day, of course).

Travel Guide

The colleges of Oxford

Maudlin College is not real – the author borrowed the sound of its name from Magdalen College in the city as Magdalen is pronounced Maudlin believe it or not – and the author found this funny ( us too!)

St Lucy’s is not really either although it is also based on real collages that women attend in Oxford.

St John’s College is real and most of the other places in the book are real too

The author though is keen to point out that only the murder is entirely made up…..
