In her last, most profound and poignant Moomin story, Jansson explores themes of loss, legacy and hope. The Moomins have left their beloved Moominvalley but as winter draws near Snufkin, Mymble, Toft and others move into the Moominhouse to await the family’s return. Could that gentle flicker of light on the horizon be their boat?
Sadly fictional but clearly somewhere in Finland. The Moomins do like to live in Moomin Valley and not have humans visit so no where is really sure where Moomin Valley is. Moonmin World is the place you can go to that’s very close to the real thing (reliable information from a Moomin)
They are a family of white, round fairy tale characters with large snouts that make them look a bit like hippopotamuses. They live in their house in Moominvalley, though in the past, the’ve live in a few places such as a lighthouse and a theatre. They’re one of the most sociable and adventurous families around!
There are a few places where you can go to feel close to the Moomins – and you may even see one if you’re lucky. Although they are very shy around humans.
Moomin World is a theme park based on the Moomin books, located on the island of Kailo next to the old town of Naantali, in Southwest Finland.
There’s a series of cafes and shops, at airports and in towns and cities, so you can always eat and shop with things connected to Moomins.
