Sienna is unhappy. Her mum has disappeared in Shanghai…it’s up to her to follow the clues
Sienna lives with her family in Shanghai, but life has become very bleak as her mum has disappeared. Her only friend is Rufus and he’s an invisible dog. Their housekeeper is not nice and doesn’t seem to like Sienna so when she starts acting suspiciously, she decides to investigate. Following a trail of clues, she discovers a mysterious moon-lit temple. Is her mother’s disappearance linked to a priceless statue of the moon princess? And can Sienna discover the dangerous truth?
Arriving in Shanghai, she sees the first grey suburbs of the big city. “The vast green hills gave way to houses and straight roads. Then the plane flew across the sea beside the city, and Sienna remembers that ht words Shang hai’ meant ‘over the water’ in Chinese.”
Much is made in the book of the Moonlit festival and the Moonlit temple – This is the city to see this amazing festival and there are many places to see and enjoy it from. The Bund is probably the most popular place as it’s relatively tranquil despite all the people and there’s some lovely restaurants and tea houses along it. For a real bird’s eye view, The Oriental Pearl TV Tower used to be the highest tower in Asia so you should get a good view. Maybe Sienna should look for her mum from up here.
