2022: An isolated castle, a deadly crime. Is this real or a nightmare?
In a remote castle high up in the Tuscan hills secrets are simmering among its glamorous English residents:
The ailing gentleman art-dealer. His dazzling niece. Her handsome Fascist husband. Their neglected young daughter. The housekeeper who knows everything and Connie, the English widow working for them.
Every night, Connie hears sinister noises and a terrible wailing inside the walls. Is she losing her grip on reality?
Or does someone in the castle want her gone?
Tuscany – Florence
The author states that Florence is generally agreed to be a place of such perfection that taking liberties with it feels like a wanton act of desecration so she apologises for the artistic licence she has takenn with it.
Settignano and Fiesole are of course real and they are villages close the fictional castle in the novel. Black Rock Hill which is fictional, is placed in between of the two places and there is no castle there either.
You will believe in Black Rock and the castle and those wonderful views however if you read this novel.
