Can conflict ever be resolved with kindness?
Samuel is a rich Jewish boy and Hamza is a poor Muslim boy. As Samuel tries to make sure that Hamza never says anything bad about him again, his attempts backfire and result in friendship
This story was inspired by a medieval legend about the Jewish poet Samuel Ha- Nagid who was the highest royal advisor (Vizier) in Muslim Granada
According to the legend, anyone who insults the vizier should be punished. The Vizier gave a man who insulted him a kind tongue instead of the awful one he had. Therefore having taken out his nasty spiteful tongue, he became nice. An enemy had become his friend.
Granada
The Spain of Samuel Ha-Nagid was deeply religious and culturally rich. The south of Spain in and around Granada is now known as Moorish Spain for its heritage. It is said that Samuel , A jewish man came to the attention of the Vizier at the time as he wrote such nice letters. He rose through the ranks at the palace and became the Vizier himself.
During the times of Moorish Space in its golden age, muslims, jews and Christians worked in harmony and exchanged cultural ideas.
