What you need to know before your trail

Abandoned tunnels, derelict stations, old trackbeds and much more; all are included in “Do Not Alight Here”, an entertaining and informative book that guides the reader through London’s many remaining disused Underground and main line railway structures. They can be viewed in a series of 12 guided walks and short tube and train journeys, devised and investigated by the author, each of which takes in a sample of these forgotten and fascinating remains, with most of the entries illustrated with recently taken colour photographs.

Travel Guide

London Underground

This book is a history guide of sorts to the changing ity of London but like the times, they are a changin’ and so some of the sites in this book are not going to be the same as when the book was written

The walks should be therefore used as a guide to the past and a chance to explore some of the city;’s less-visited areas. Many of the places aren’t on the tourist trail, but they are on the history trail of the city. Affluent areas and less affluent sit side by side and it’s often the less affluent which are some of the most vibrant places full of interesting characters and stories.

The first walk for example is some 2.5 hours loing and takes in much of Camden from Holborn – Tower Hill
