This is the London of mean streets, dark corners and flashes of the nice parts, the touristy parts which the police drive past on their way to their next crime scene. In this book we see Madame Tussaud’s and the long queues as the detectives drive past on their way to investigate someone. The Shard makes a glistening appearance but only as far as the police need to visit offices there. A novel of crime, a long and complex investigation but one which takes the reader from familiarity to a shocking dark corner you haven’t noticed before.
The novel takes place in many of the city’s office blocks and of course Paddington Green police station.
