June, 2007. Castillac appears calm, even serene. Roses spill over stone walls, the Saturday market is overflowing. Villagers are lulled into feeling safe and secure.
But a dark corruption is spreading underneath the surface. Unbeknownst to anyone but those involved, the village has been infiltrated from within and without. And Molly Sutton, the best detective in town, has her eye off the ball as she juggles her gîte business along with planning her best friend’s wedding.
A shocking murder shatters the illusion of peace, and Molly and Ben jump into action. This time around, the more they investigate, the longer the list of suspects grows. Will Sutton/Dufort Investigations find the killer before he or she finds them?
Castillac (fictional)
Castillac was a large village with a weekly market and a lively square. It had the orange-tiled rooftops, narrow street and ancient stone buildings she love so, but no particular attraction like a chateau or a cathedral, so while a few tourist would be drawn to its quiet charm, the streets were not deluged with visitors, which Molly though might get tiresome if you live there full time.
The village of Castillac has many places to hang out in, if only it were real – there’s a bar called Chez Papa, and the whole place has the flavour of a typical Dordogne village. Molly’s gite La Baranque is going really well!
A market is popular here for the villagers in Castillac and they’re often in and out of the town which is not fictional like Castillac but very very real! The market in the market square is typically French and the old town centre a must see. Don’t forget the historical Cloitre des Récollets. Walk across the Dordogne river and see if you can spot any of the characters in the novel!
