Olivia is perhaps one of the most adventurous pigs there is. She travels all over with her family and this is a special trip to Venice. She wants to see everything there is, taste the ice-cream and go explore in a city she’s never seen before. She’s even got herself a boater hat with ribbons on it to look like one of the gondoliers so she’ll fit right in!

From the moment Olivia set trotters on the cobbled streets or Venice, she is captivated by what she sees. Wow! There’s the grand canal that she’s only ever seen in books. The palazzos which adorn the canal are so impressive and amazing she wants to live in one. Well so will you when you arrive in Piazza San Marco and see all the pigeons. The famous bridges are so beautiful to she thinks and she loves the name of the Bridge of Sighs! What do you think people do here?
Can they go to the Rialto Bridge? Ride on a gondola? Olivia is so excited to see and do it all, that her enthusiasm is infectious and it’s catching!
But she still can’t find that elusive souvenir of the city – there’s so much to see and do, what will she find that reminds her the most of her visit to Venice?
Be prepared to eat lots and lots of gelato whilst reading this book or at least dreaming about it once you’ve read it to a child. A mix of illustrations and real life photos adds another layer of charm.
