2000s: Mallorca: where you seldom do today what can be put off till mañana!
Having battled and succumbed to the mañana pace of rural Mallorca, spring sees Peter Kerr and family relaxing into a supposedly simpler way of life, growing oranges on their little valley farm, Ca’s Mayoral.
However, even after the trials, tribulations and triumphs of their initiation, Spain has not yet finished with them. Embarrassing subtleties of the language, brushes with the local police, the unfortunate outcome of a drinking session… surprises aplenty await this venturesome émigré family
There’s a few places to visit and explore in this travelogue!
Peguera
Peguera is the very antithesis of sleepy old Andratx, and therefore nothing like the ‘real’ Mallorca which we had come to know and love.
Andratx – market place
The market place of Andratx is situated on the outskirts of town, ina wide, tree-lined avenue overlooked byt ehe imposing bulkf of Som Mas Castle, for centuries the baronial pile of wealthy landowners, but now the grand seat of the Ayuntamiento, or Andratz Town Council.
Andratx -The Plaza de Espana
The Plaza de Espana in tucked away in the centre of two, a pleasant open space in the midst of a right-angle network of narrow streets, the pervading maze effect exacerbated for the stranger by a confusing, though necessary, one-way systems.
