What you need to know before your trail

DCI Jack Lambert is no stranger to inner demons, having struggled with his own since the admission about his sexuality.  When two bodies are discovered in an open grave, Lambert must put his personal worries aside and work the case. But when the body of a local thug shows up on the banks of the River Tyne, the DCI’s criminal past comes back to haunt him.

Meanwhile, a local celebrity singer claims that she is being stalked. Could there be a link to the killings?

As the bodies start to pile up, Lambert realises the motive lies in the past and that the killer is taunting them.

The clock is ticking. Can he catch the murderer, or will one of their own end up in an open grave?

Travel Guide

Explore South Shields BookTrail style with Jack Lambert

The book is set in the South Shields close to Newcastle upon Tyne. Other police procedurals set in the North East are more firmly centered in Newcastle so this makes for a nice change. The weather however is the same…

“South Shields wasn’t exactly known for its exotic climate.”

“South Shields famous foggy coastline was doing its job today, sending a thick grey paste their way.”

The novel takes in the ship building heritage of the area with the River Tyne, the Port of Tyne and the general area where the river reaches the North Sea. There’s lots of references to local landmarks and the feel of a town not quite a city, but near enough to have a busy police department. There are plenty of references to coastal life too which helps to make the story stand out.
