What you need to know before your trail

As a boy Evan Smoak was taken from an orphanage.

Raised and trained in a top secret programme, he was sent to bad places to do things the government denied ever happened.

Then he broke with the programme, using what he’d learned to vanish. Now he helps the desperate and deserving.

But someone’s on his trail.

Someone who knows his past and believes that the boy once known as Orphan X must die . . .

Travel Guide

Los Angeles

Evan has moved to Los Angeles – the further he could get from DC without tumbling off he edge of the country. He looks over the glittering skyline and thinks about his hunters waiting and wanting him but for now he is safe. He lives in the downtown area of Wilshire corridor, and his castle really is his castle for Castle Heights proves to be the fortress that he needs. Protection and a refuge when the going gets too tough.

Las Vegas

“The Las Vegas sun had baked straight through the walls and the air smelled of spent powder and gun grease.

There was no noise Evan could make tha would rise above the din of Las Vegas at night”

The perfect place to hide in plain sight, the perfect place to trail someone but the place with links to the past and a problem in Evan’s life.

Booktrailer Review

Clare @thebooktrailer

Not the kind of book I would have read but when I got my hands on this I thought I would put my reservations to the back of my mind. And do you know what it wasn’t what I thought.  It’s a thriller with pizazz and although there were bits and references I didn’t get, I can see why this is creating a buzz. It’s very Jason Bourne and James Bond and a bit of Batman all thrown in together. I am not an adventure thriller or film expert but this is being turned into a move and I can see why.

From the very first page, you hit the ground running and the pace never lets up. The premise is complex and itneresing – a programme known as Orphan X where people are trained by the US military as killers to target certain people. There is layers of reasons why and background that goes into gritty and uncomfortable detail but the overall impression of this is that whilst not my personal cup of tea, this is the energy drink of the literary world.
