What you need to know before your trail

Carl Louis Feldman used to like taking photographs. That was before he was tried for murder and acquitted. Before dementia and his admission to a Texas care facility.

Now someone has come to see him, to take him on a trip.

The woman driving the car is convinced he’s guilty, and that he’s killed other young women. Including her sister Rachel.

Now they’re driving across Texas, following his photographs, his clues, his crimes. To see if he remembers any of it. To discover what happened to Rachel.

But who has the most to fear? The driver or the passenger? Who is really in control?

Travel Guide

Texas

This is a road tip with a difference.Imagine driving across the state with anyone let alone someone you think might have killed your sister. Those long roads, the unending time in the car and where are you going? To all the graves and crime scenes where you suspect there are bodies which will give out clues as to what happened to your sister…

All of the exact places aren’t on the map as some of them give the plot away!

Fort Worth

The city where the story starts. The halfway house is located just outside the city. Carl used to live here so the city is of interest. On their way from here to Waco, there is ample opportunity to wolf down a dairy queen or two apparently as Carl does in the book

Waco

One of the photographs shows a little silver cross hidden in the weeds under the old 17th Street bridge.” Of course this part of Texas was put on the infamous criminal map when the siege of a compound belonging to the Branch Davidians( a religious sect suspected of stockpiling illegal weapons), was carried out by the authorities between February 28 and April 19, 1993.

More interestingly, it’s also the location of the Dr Pepper Museum!

Calvert

“Welcome to Calvert – It’s a lovely little place to escape suburbia. Not so grand now, but back in the Victorian era, this was the fourth largest city in the state of Texas.”
