1881 – 1973: The life and times of Picasso as seen through the eyes of a child
A great way to get children interested in art and Picasso!
The author guides you around the paintings and looks at them through the eyes of a child – Everything is covered from the normal paintings where people looked like people to the more obscure ones in the later Cubist period. People being formed into little cubes! Like puzzles gone wrong, the child can have fun trying to make out what the pictures are and finding the various body parts in the famous paintings. And it asks the questions adults might quite like to know too – like why did he paint like this?
Picasso was born in Malaga in 1881 and so many of the museums and homages to him are in his home town as you might expect. The Picasso museum is amazing for adults and children alike and having read this book, they should be able to get a better sense of the art and of the man himself.
In Madrid, there are several places of note as he studied art here in the local art school. One of his most famous paintings Guernica is on display at the Museum Reina Sofia
