2000s: The third mystery set in the fictional Dordogne village of Castillac
A woman named Valerie disappeared from the village of Castillac more than seven years ago and hasn’t been seen since. No one really believes she’s coming back and most seem to believe she’s dead. Everyone however seems to have loved this popular, mischievous Valerie Boutillier .
Chief Dufort and his team have searched long and hard but their efforts have yielded almost no clues, and his failure to solve the case had been one of the main reasons he quit the force. But then a shred of evidence appears. Molly Sutton isn’t afraid to grab hold of it a but it’s what she might unravel that’s the real concern
“Castillac was a large village with a weekly market and a lively square. It had the orange-tiled rooftops, narrow street and ancient stone buildings she love so, but no particular attraction like a chateau or a cathedral, so while a few tourist would be drawn to its quiet charm, the streets were not deluged with visitors, which Molly though might get tiresome if you live there full time. South West France was known for its caves, its duck and mushrooms, its truffles; the weather was temperate real estate prices low, and the patisseries plentiful.”
The farm
Achille lives in a farm not far from the village. He won’t go into Castillac however to seek the company of others, as he’s far too timid. He always imagines strangers are talking bout him and doesn’t dare t go into market on Sundays.
Molly lives in a house called La Baraque. She’s built it into a gite which is starting to pick up after the winter months. There are some colourful guests staying here!
