Ravenscraig begins in a small and poor village in Russia in the late 1800s. With Jewish villages being destroyed and families struggling to survive the worst of the atrocities, one family,the Zigmans, decided to escape to Canada and settle in Winnipeg.
Another family The Willows already live there and they are claiming Winnipeg to be theirs. and the head of the family – Rupert – decides that he will make this his home and his destiny by working hard and reaching the top. He will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
Two families and their destinies – and Winnipeg is at the heart of it all.
This is a tale of many continents and many moments in history – we travel from the horrific scenes of the Russian pogroms, the poverty of the Jewish cities, then travel over to Winnipeg and experience the growth and the development of the city over issues such as immigration, epidemics and the day to day struggle of a city finding its identity. A fascinating time to see Winnipeg grow and flourish and the struggle to get there.
Leading up to the first world war which would change not only Canada but the whole world in way no one could have foreseen, there is a certain ship – the largest of its kind about to set sail from the docks of Southampton -all the way to New York.
