2000s: Someone is about to go to sleep and never wake up…
All Anna wants is to be able to sleep. But crushing insomnia, terrifying night terrors and memories of that terrible night are making it impossible. If only she didn’t feel so guilty…
To escape her past, Anna takes a job at a hotel on the remote Scottish island of Rum, but when seven guests join her, what started as a retreat from the world turns into a deadly nightmare.
Each of the guests have a secret, but one of them is lying – about who they are and why they’re on the island. There’s a murderer staying in the Bay View hotel. And they’ve set their sights on Anna.
Seven strangers. Seven secrets. One deadly lie.
Someone’s going to sleep and never wake up…
Out in the middle of nowhere, on a tiny island in the inner hebrides, is the island of Rum. Perfect setting for a retreat, a holiday , a getaway kind of place, somewhere to escape. However, in the hands of Cally Taylor, this place will haunt you and rob you of sleep.
It’s the setting for a group of strangers all looking to escape from the world for a while. Sadly, the problem with that is that on such a desolate island, you can’t escape if you have to and no-one can hear you scream…
A cast of characters each with a story of their own, secrets and lies as to why they are on this island, in this hotel – the only one on the island we are told – with its creaky floors, dark corners and narrow corridors. There’s a storm outside which lashes the island with rain. No one wants to go out, no one can go out, but there are some people wanting to escape more than most.
There’s a creeping sense of doom both amongst the guests and with every lash of rain on the windows. Something is going to happen. Someone is going to die. And that person and the person who is going to do it, are in the same hotel…..stranded.
Anna has come here to escape taunts and stalking following the accident and death of her friends. She was driving that day. And now someone is driving her mad and have seemingly come to the island and followed Anna…
Kinloch Castle gets a nice mention as the source of activity for the guests but take care if you are ill or threatened in this story as the only doctort comes from nearby Eigg.
You can always rely on Cally Taylor to take you to dark places in her novels – both psychologically and geographically! Perfect title for what yo son’t be doing after reading this.
