Agurtzane Loizaga, a professor at the University of Bilbao, recently moved with her partner to the region of Las Encartaciones. They thought they were happy until, overnight, her girlfriend disappeared. A series of indications make him suspect that his departure has not been voluntary.
Osmany Arechabala has been living in Bilbao for months, far from his native Cuba, when an old friend asks him for help to find his daughter. There is no news of her since she left the house of the old women she cared for in a small village of Las Encartaciones. Osmany, accompanied by Nekane Gordobil, non-commissioned officer of the Ertzaintza on sick leave, decides to accept the assignment without being aware of the dimensions of his commitment.

Enkarterri (Spanish: Las Encartaciones) is a comarca of the province of Biscay, in the Basque Country, Spain. It is one of the seven comarcas or districts that make up the province of Biscay.
Nowadays the name usually refers only to the rural western part of the historical territory, while the eastern urban area is known as the Left Bank.
