2000s: One plane crash, one survivor, one mystery
Deep in the heart of the Arizona desert, a plane crashes not far from the town of Redemption. There’s only one survivor- an albino man who literally runs from the wreckage with only one memory – that he has to save a man called James Coronado. This mysterious man who has survived seems to have no clue about he is and what he was doing in that plane. The only possible clue is the name Solomon Creed sewn into his jacket pocket. He also can do things and speak languages he didn’t know he could so as the picture starts to clear, he starts to see who he is.
Why is he in Redemption. Does he in fact need Redemption itself?
This plane crash will bring several people together – the mayor, police chief and an ex- cop Michael Mulcahy. What happens next will affect them all.
Redemption as you might expect is fictional, but the heat and confusion you can feel in the middle of the Arizona desert is now. Even the formatting of the first few lines swaggers like the man himself across the desert:
“In the beginning is the road – and me walking along it.
I have no memory of who I am , or where I have come from, or how I came to be here. There is only the road
and the desert stretching away to a burnt sky in every
direction
and there is me.”
This is the middle of the Arizona desert where there are different scents in the air such as the coal-tar sap of a broken creosote bush branch, the sweet sugar rot of fallen saguaro fruit, the arid perfume of agave pollen… and from the solid seed of each named thing more information grows…
The weather here is brutal, the air is silent and when the plane crashes, the people of this town know exactly what it means:
A column of black smoke was rising up on the main road out of town. It wasn’t thunder he had heard or rain that was coming. It was trouble”
Imagine a plane crash with many suspect victims, with a death toll which could affect many small communities…deep in the heart of the desert. The noise reminds the Chief of a distant war…
