As one girl is found sexually assaulted and drugged in a park, another one goes missing. The forensics also tell as interesting story as well as the friends of one of the girls who seems to know a lot more than she is letting on.

Then a third victim is found and the hunt becomes more personal

Travel Guide

Linköping in a heat wave is a nice place to be if you’re not Malin Fors of course. The weather is also a character in its own right – the heat really brings across a new and more stuffy atmosphere in the city – the heat and humidity bringing tempers shorter and patience none existent. ‘Midwinter Sacrifice’ highlighted the coldness and raw bleakness of the city then this is a new and very opposite atmosphere.

Malin Fors- a 34 year old police inspector working in the city where she grew up really shows us the city in a unique light. As we find another face to her home town – where she brought up her 14 year old daughter Tove and still thinks of her ex, Janne.

The heatwave symbolises so much in the book and its themes and a novel set in sweden in the heat is a unique premise! The way in which the dead girl speaks in the novel also adds a unique eerie slant to the novel and gives a spooky view of the city.
