Selene Doherty in on a great and very successful tour with her band. However she has to cut the tour short when she gets the shocking and devastating news that her parents have been killed in the Athens riots. Needing some place to hide out for a while, she feels to her summer home on the island of Santorini to try and recover from the tragedy, at least in some way. But how do you survive or learn to cope with the death of your parents?
The island has its ways however and soon something will come along that she doesn’t expect and which helps her to put herself back together again.
She is haunted. The loss of her family leaves her with a feeling of disconnectedness that is unshakable. But a chance reunion with a man from her past brings new romance – and hope. Drawing strength as he helps her get in touch with her roots, she begins the journey to redefine her life.
Sunsets in Oia – the name says it all really and it’s the story of how a landscape can heal the mind in some way and how your surroundings can start to influence what’s inside.
An amazing place and an amazing town both to look at and explore. It’s situated on the top of not only a mountain (imagine the views!) but the island actually curls around an ancient and still active volcano! Life is never quiet in here that’s for sure.
The village of Oia was like a living time capsule – the local people’s deep love and respect for the past had helped preserve it”
Constructed of large and slightly uneven piece of white sone, the street guided her through the heart of the village…. a cloudless sky greeted her…..”
The island of Santorini offers a wonderful backdrop to the village of OIs.There is a wealth of folklore as it’s believed that there could well be links to Atlantis here….It’s certainly old as the ruins at Akrotiri are clues of the ancient times. Is Santorini the left overs of Atlantis? Not this island needs another pull….
Selene has a cavehouse veranda, she spends time on the beach, wanders down the narrow roads and meanders along the cobbled streets. The faint sound of greek music, the folk songs waft through the windows with the gentle breeze.
