Max Cámara returns to his home town in La Mancha, famous for producing the finest saffron in the world. He’s on leave from his last case and lying low for a while.

Nevertheless this is no warm homecoming. In town,  a mass grave from the Civil War is being exhumed causing many people grief and anguish. His grandfather however is the person who bothers him the most as he seems to be behaving very odd. His old friend Yago is investigating a particularly nasty murder which sets off memories Max has been trying to bury for years.

Yago’ is also hearing whispers about a certain saffron mafia…
