What you need to know before your trail

If there were 10 authors in a room, each of then with a story to tell – then at the end of the chat, two hairy bikers passed around the tasty food they had prepared just for you…..sound like the ideal literary evening? Well welcome to your dreams. With brilliant authors such as Fanny Blake, Veronica Henry, Richard Madeley, Elizabeth Buchanan, John O’Farrell, Andy McNab, Rowan Coleman, this is a great literary feast. Jenny Colgan provides something sweet to taste and then there’s  a walk outside with Matt Haig. A bit of medieval mystery with Philippa Gregory and the whole evening is wrapped up nicely.

Travel Guide

10 very different stories taking you from the streets of London and the promise of a visit to the Ritz hotel,  a secret visit to what they called ‘ Station 53’  and to the inner thoughts of a whole bunch of characters. Each story reads like a brief visit from that particular author. Fanny Blake knocks at the door first and tells you a story which draws you into the intrigue to follow.  Rowan Coleman revealed some very interesting birthday secrets and both Elizabeth Buchanan and Jenny Colgan remind us of the effects of the wars in the past which have several consequences in the present  – and not how you may think! The mix of authors and subjects provide a smooth ride with plenty twists and turns and the full stories in so few words means you can stop and start as manhy times as you like. Andy McNab is hiding out towards the end with a story making you feel like the undercover agents he favours in his novels. Richard Madeley’s title nicely blends in his love of mixing past, present and emotion.

Hungry for more? You’ll be heading to the kitchen with the Hairy Bikers at the end..

Booktrailer Review

Susan @thebooktrailer

A brillian mix of stories and authors. I so wished I could have been in the room with all of these people as the book makes you feel like you are. Fanny Blake in particular writes great stories about women and how they think and her story reminded me of how we judge and assume things without thinking sometimes. Richard Madeley’s story was a good one and the ending very poignant. Rowan Coleman finds out some secrets and Jenny Colgan really showed me that the old adage of truth being stranger than fiction really is true! What can I say apart from the fact that this is a great collection of short stories and that the stories are just as tempting as theat wonderful cake on the cover!
