ww2 onwards: The fictionalised story of the author’s life and her guilt of being a ‘bad’ mother
Born in Germany, Marguerite was barely in her twenties when she ‘ran off’ to Tunisia with her French lover.
She thought she was running away on an adventure where she could be with someone she loved, be free and live the life she was supposed to lead. However, instead, she ended up in an abusive marriage with children which seemed to trap her further still.
One day it all becomes too much for her and so she escapes but is unable to take her children with her. Many people don’t understand her choices and decision to leave her children and so she is called a bad mother.
Can you love your children and want your own life at the same time?
Born in Germany, Andersen has led a very interesting life and struggled with what comes with a violent and abusive marriage.
