2000s: One quiet beach in Cornwall, one beach hut, and so many stories…
Finn and his sister Ava achieve a childhood dream when they build themselves a beach hut in a quiet cove in Cornwall. No matter that they don’t have planning permission and have just landed where they feel like it. They plan to stay here until Ava leaves for a round the world adventure.
However local publican Donald isn’t happy. He’s still mourning his wife and all he wants is a bit of peace and quiet so he can raise his daughter Alicia. He wants rid of them and fast. Alicia meanwhile has her own struggles and soon all of these people will come together on one Cornish beach.
In the author note, she says that readers who know the coast of North Cornwall will recognise the place that inspired the book as Perranporth beach. It’s been in her heart since she can remember and so she has fictionalised the town and area for the story but has still retained the charm and the unique feeling the town gave her
Although the beach is beautiful, she does warn ou that the caves are dangerous and the tide is not as peaceful as it looks. Never trn your back on the ocean she says. Good advice from someone who knows
