Timeless: A man sits in his office in Lisbon and muses about life, love and everything inbetween
A man doing boring office job, sits and wonders if this is all to life or is there is more to it.
His life is one long groundhog day and he is determined to make sense of it and of himself
so he allows his imagination to wander, even if he cannot and so reflects upon his life, the lives of others, death, mortality and life itself.
A guide to life as opposed to any other kind. But this line for us outshines them all:
“Literature is the most agreeable way of ignoring life.”
And then:
“There are ships sailing to many ports, but not a single one goes where life is not painful.”
And finally:
“Life is an experimental journey undertaken involuntarily. It is a journey of the spirit through the material world and, since it is the spirit that travels, it is the spirit that is experienced. That is why there exist contemplative souls who have lived more intensely, more widely, more tumultuously than others who have lived their lives purely externally.”
