What you need to know before your trail

Hildur Rúnarsdottir is the only police detective working on the isolated west coast of Iceland. She is desperate to forget her traumatic past by burying herself in her cases alongside her new trainee, Jakob Johanson. But Jakob’s life has its own complications, and it soon becomes clear that neither can run from their pasts for long.

When a local man is found with his throat slit, underneath an avalanche that has buried much of the evidence, Hildur and Jakob must set their own problems aside and unravel the dark secrets to expose a killer . . .

Travel Guide

Iceland

A dark and twisted Nordic noir novel, set in the chilling Iceland fjords. Hildur Rúnarsdóttir is a police detective who surfs the icy waters of Iceland. The landscape is raw and chilling. This is the land of the gods and if legend is to be believe, trolls.

There’s  certainly something dark around these parts.

The Westfjords

The Westfjords is a large peninsula in northwestern Iceland and an administrative region, the least populous in the country. It lies on the Denmark Strait, facing the east coast of Greenland. It is connected to the rest of Iceland by a seven-kilometre-wide isthmus between Gilsfjörður and Bitrufjörður.

Booktrailer Review

When this came on the radar, I had to read it! A Finnish writer moves to Iceland and becomes obsessed with all things Icelandic. Then she writes a novel where the insights and observations are unique. Excellent scene setting and brilliantly nuanced characters. Add to that murder and general Nordic Noir goodness and you have a winner!
