2000s: Two people go missing from a remote part of Greenland
When all contact is lost with two Icelanders working in a harsh and sparsely populated area on the northeast coast of Greenland, Thora is hired to investigate.
Is there any connection with the woman who vanished from the site some months earlier? Why are the locals so hostile? And could one of the team staying at the site with Thora be responsible for the disappearances?
The work station/mine is located up in the far north of the country. Remote, icy, desolate.
“No one managed to survive for long in this harsh region. It wasn’t until the eighteenth century that settlements started to thrive on the east coast, but in the nineteenth century the population started to decrease. One village after another fell to ruin after the villagers died from hunger or other hardships”
Kaanneq
“It was actually an understatement to call the village of Kaanneq small – tiny was more like it. On steep, flat rocks that extended down to a small, ice-covered bay stood wooden houses, painted in bright colours which made them stand out from their snow-white surroundings. “
This place is remote to the point of dangerous. One of their guides explains a bunch of people were almost frozen to death on the northern tip of the country when the helicopter forget to pick them up.
Kusuluk Island
Helicopters are the only way to get around here. It’s small, remote and a very chilling and lonely place to be.
