2000s: Jo Nesbo’s Oslo really is on the map with this beauty! Watch for the big finale! Whoah!
A young woman is murdered in her Oslo flat. One finger has been severed from her left hand, and behind her eyelid there’s a tiny red diamond in the shape of a five-pointed star – a pentagram, the devil’s star.
Detective Harry Hole is assigned to the case but is reluctant to get involved. – he is already on notice to quit the force and is left with little alternative but to drag himself out of his alcoholic stupor and get to work.
More similar murders will take place suggesting that Oslo has a serial killer Is the five-pointed devil’s star the key to solving the riddle?
Harry Hole is the ultimate guide to Oslo not for the tourist sites obviously but his gritty realism on the cool and chilling streets which seem so nice and clean in daylight but not at night in the world of Harry Hole.
The setting is once again Norway but this time its in the middle of one heck of a heat wave (yes even in Norway) and one in which a serial killer is leaving satanic clues, and pentagrams around the city in grotesque serial killer trail. The police appear baffled but Harry is on the case but he suspects a fellow policeman of corrupt behavior.
The heat wave provides a rather unique twist on the cold gritty Nesbo thriller but this time it becomes sweaty and full of events to make you sweat and panic even more.
There is a good Official Harry Hole tour on offer in Oslo itself which is definatlely worth a visit!
