If you ever want to go diving in the blue sea, then Thailand must be the place to go. Koh Sang sounds beautiful and if like Cass, you live or travel there, you are in for some stunning views and very clear waters. It’s an area known for its coral and underwater flora and fauna.

It sounds amazing and is well-evoked in the novel – paradise! This is the life! If you swim and dive and love the water, then this is heaven on earth, surely? Well, not in this novel but then there’s always darkness in literary paradise.

The author says:

While Koh Sang is fictional, it is based on the real-life island of Koh Tao, which is located in the Gulf of Thailand (somewhat near Koh Phangan and Koh Samui). I first had the idea for The Dive when I traveled to Koh Tao back in 2014. It’s essentially a scuba diving/party island, and it was such an incredible getaway. However, while I was there, I found out that two British tourists had been murdered on the island the year before. After doing some research when I returned home, I discovered that there actually had been a series of suspicious murders of backpackers on Koh Tao over the years. ( Those murders (and the seemingly strange coincidences among them) helped spark the premise for The Dive.
