Detective Leone Scamarcio is the son of a former leading Mafioso but he has turned his back on the family business and joined the Rome police force.
Quite a change. But when he comes across a file of very compromising photographs of high-ranking Italian government officials, and told to ‘deal with it’, he knows he’s in for trouble.
And trouble comes calling even sooner than he could have expected – for a young man is found dead in his apartment and then a little girl goes missing on a beach in Elba.
The famous saying ‘all roads lead to Rome’ is true here but its more all roads lead to the highest office in the land – the PM himself

Rome under the shroud of the mafia. The rot and corruption within Italian society and the government in particular is at the centre of the action here and it’s this underbelly that Scamarcio has to delve into. But he is more than prepared, as he says himself –

Elba
Once the action moves to Elba and the case of the missing young girl, the links to the first case in Rome start to appear and it may be that he has to go back into the underbelly of his mafia connections in the city to be able to find his way through the italian maze of high level corruption
