2000s: Five weddings. The perfect venue. One little hitch…
Leaving the grey skies of home behind to transform a crumbling French Château into a boutique wedding venue is a huge leap of faith for Sara. She and fiancé Gavin sink their life savings into the beautiful Château Bellevue – set under blue skies and surrounded by vineyards in the heart of Bordeaux.
After months of hard work, the dream starts to become a reality – until Gavin walks out halfway through their first season. Overnight, Sara is left very much alone with the prospect of losing everything.
With her own heart breaking, Sara has five weddings before the end of the season to turn the business around and rescue her dreams. With the help of the locals and a little courage, can she save Château Bellevue before the summer is over
“Once upon a time, not so very long ago, nor so very far away, an ancient chateau sat on a hilltop among the vines, high above a golden river.”
Sadly fictional but we’ve put Soulliac on the map as it sounds very similar and a few castles in the Bordeaux area. Chateau Bellevue (The French for Always) is an amalgam of several different places, amongst them Chateau Rigaud and Chateau Soulac, which are both beautiful wedding venues, and the peaceful retreat centre of the Moulin de Chaves (north-east of Bergerac) which has a weir across the river.
Sara is starting to get in to the swing of things working in the castle, helping others to experience the magic and helping to make each dream wedding come to pass in the ancient stone castle.
The castle is located on a hilltop above the deep valley of the Dordogne. It was picture – perfect…
However it is also fraught with difficult as the heat, the relentless business and the hard work takes it toll.
However you will be transported to Bordeaux if you read this.
The descriptions of the Chateau and the local village are very vivid as the experience of sipping a glass of wine in the late evening sun….
